Saanich Peninsula Hospital Chapel

The Interfaith Chapel at Saanich Peninsula Hospital officially opened during the summer of 2011. The chapel opens directly off the main entrance to the existing extended care facility.  While primarily serving the extended care population the chapel will also be used for meetings and other hospital related events.

Patrons enter the chapel through a support zone ‘link’ that contains a spacious lobby, office for the resident chaplain, and a meeting room for volunteers.  The dramatic chapel interior presents a stepped sloping ceiling either side of a central service spine.  This is clad in stained white oak panels that terminate in a stone-faced support wall at the north end.

Interior chapel illumination is primarily achieved from indirect lighting reflected off the stepped ceiling. A combination of clear and stained glass windows give views to the chapel gardens beyond.
