“In/Tension” is this year’s central bar. Creating a space for gathering and pause in contrast to the busy showroom floor, this special installation brings together an exciting group of collaborators from across BC to transform commonplace materials.



In/Tension is inspired by the push and pull between purpose-built structures and material re-use. Designed by @dhk.architects as a temporary installation that can be completely disassembled and re-purposed, the motto was ‘no screws, no waste.’ Using only gravity and tension the raw dimensional lumber remains completely intact for future use, embodying the circular design principles essential to both IDS and the design team.
