Set along the sheltered waters of Ladysmith Harbour, the Ladysmith Community Marina is rooted in the community’s longstanding relationship with the working waterfront and Vancouver Island’s maritime heritage. The project creates a welcoming interface between land and water, supporting recreational boating, community gathering, and opportunities to experience the harbour at an intimate scale.
The design responds to its marine setting through a collection of waterfront structures and spaces that balance functionality with a distinctly coastal character. Strong connections to the docks and harbour establish a natural flow between interior and exterior environments, while views across the water reinforce the marina’s relationship with the surrounding landscape and the broader Gulf Islands region.
