Located at the prominent intersection of Johnson and Cook Streets, The Mondrian is a contemporary mixed-use residential development that brings a bold architectural identity to Victoria’s Harris Green neighbourhood. Completed in 2013, the ten-storey concrete building combines residential living with ground-floor commercial space, contributing additional density and activity to an evolving downtown district.
The project draws direct inspiration from the geometric compositions of Dutch modernist artist Piet Mondrian. Strong horizontal and vertical lines organize the façade, while coloured glass balcony panels introduce moments of vibrancy across the building envelope, creating a distinctive contemporary expression within Victoria’s urban fabric.
